Csaba Szilagyi is a professionally trained acrobat who has been performing in live entertainment for over 20 years. He studied gymnastics in Hungary when he was young and moved on to attend the Hungarian State Circus School. After graduating, he (as the flyer) and his teeterboard troupe were signed to Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus. Their teeterboard act was one of a kind, where the catchers stood on top of a large fiberglass ball. In his six years with Ringling, Csaba learned aerial straps, silks and russian bar. When his teeterboard troupe disbanded four years later, Csaba stayed with Ringling performing these new skills for his last two years.
In 2003, Csaba decided to stop touring with Ringling and after a short contract with Cheval Theatre out of Canada in Las Vegas, he settled in Orlando – performing at Arabian Nights Dinner Attraction in Kissimmee, FL. He trained performers for their acrobatic bareback riding act. This act involved Csaba performing backflips back to the same horse and from one horse to another. At Arabian Nights, Csaba also performed an aerial strap routine as the guest’s pre-show entertainment, a group aerial performance in their normal show, and a solo aerial silks during their holiday show.
In July, 2010, Csaba began teaching aerial silks, straps, tumbling, lyra (aerial hoop), hand balancing and static trapeze out of his 30×40 foot home studio, with heights of 25 feet.
Arabian Nights’ closed their doors on December 31 – and Csaba took a job with Indian Jones: An Epic Stunt Spectacular (Stunts & tumbler) and Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios. With more time to concentrate on Circus-Arts’, he produced an aerial and acrobatic show entitled ENNUI – participant in the Orlando International Fringe Festival. It received great reviews from both the Orlando Sentinel and the Orlando Weekly, and won Best Drama and Best Variety show in the festival.
